Your New Favorite Parasite is more than an album, more than a gallery, more than a senior project- it's an era. I have spent the last 10 weeks creating a multimedia collection of music, paintings, and performances all about letting go of toxic habits and relearning how to have fun. I took all 3 credits in one term all in New Jersey and New York City to place myself in the headspace and habits of a full time artist without other classes to distract me. I spent almost every waking hour dedicated to creating, pursuing inspiration, and having the time of my life!
PAINTINGS
Accompanying the first track, LEECH BABY is about undying loyalty, to the point that one's devotion becomes a religion. The maternal martyr figure cares not that they are being drained of their lifeblood, just that they can make their baby happy.WOUNDED ANIMALS trapped in a burning forest are all facets of obsessive tendencies. The forces of infatuation, predation, and the comfort in decay hold the central creature hostage as their world crashes and burns around them.In THE BATHROOM DEBATE, there’s a desperate plea from our main character to another to stop repression of the self, particularly in the context of internalized queerphobia.NO MORE MORNING SICKNESS abandons that mentality of the Leech Baby's caregiver, having them flush the toxins left in their blood.The PSEUDO SOCIALITE descends into madness that comes with their place in the spotlight.They might be toxic and made of actual radioactive SLIME, but they get away with it because they're just that suave.Leaving the SLUDGE, much like a wild animal, this creature warns potential annoyances of a nasty encounter with intense colors and a soul piercing gaze. This is the apex predator.The last track, DECREASE YOUR HEALTHCARE COSTS has no painting, as the parasite has nothing left to prove, fully secure in their own power, they are free from the shackles of seriousness.
